Welcome to the Southampton Astronomical Society website.  This site is intended to be a resource for our members and to give prospective members an idea of what we're about.

We meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month at the
Isaac Watts Memorial Church Hall. This is our main meeting,
where we have a guest speaker and carry out society business.  Meetings start at 7:30pm and finish around 9:50pm

We're always happy to welcome guests amd newcomers, so please feel free to turn up to any of our meetings (we don't charge!) or get in touch via the site.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 14th March- our guest speaker will be  Peral John talking about  "Art, Lasers and Holograms"

Beginners
Some people think they can't join an astronomy society because they're "only beginners" - that's nonsense!  We're happy to see beginners and experts alike, in fact some of our talks are specificaly aimed at beginners.  If you've just bought a telescope and are struggling to work out how to use it, bring it along - we've all been there!!
Borrow a Telescope
Why rush out and buy a telescope when you can take a Society 'scope home with you?  We've a range of 'scopes available for members to hire, starting at 25p per week!  If you submit an observing report it's free - we'll even teach you to use it!!
